All-new Kia Niro named ‘Best Crossover’ in UK Car of the Year Awards 2023
Evaluated and judged by a panel of the UK’s most well-respected and professional motoring journalists, the second-generation Niro topped the popular crossover class, one of the most competitive segments in the UK. The Niro impressed judges with its range of powertrains, striking aesthetics and impressive value for money.
UKCOTY judge Alex Grant commented: “The new Niro builds on the success of the very popular first-generation car, combining the familiar choice of electrified powertrains and spacious interior with a much-needed step up in aesthetics”.
Fellow judge Jonny Smith echoed Grant’s comments, saying: “The Niro consistently ticks the economy, family, fleet-car friendly and unrivalled warranty boxes”.
The award jurors came to the same conclusion that the all-new Niro was a thoroughly impressive model which picks up where its revolutionary predecessor left off, albeit making great strides forward in design and refinement. Having won its category, the all-new Niro is put forward for the overall ‘UK Car of the Year 2023’ Award, which will be announced in March.
President and CEO of Kia UK Limited, Paul Philpott, commented: “The all-new Niro has helped ensure we start 2023 as strongly as possible in the UK, and is currently making up almost 30 per cent of all our sales. Whilst the all-new Niro has only been available since Q3 last year, it has received numerous award wins, glowing editorial review and excellent reaction from customers. Now, with its newest accolade of ‘Best Crossover’, awarded by the UK Car of the Year jurors, our 191 dealer partners have yet another respected badge of recognition when discussing the Niro with our valued customers.”
The all-new Niro was an integral part of Kia’s record breaking 2022, as it helped the brand to more than 100,000 sales last year, marking the first time in Kia UK’s 32-year history this milestone has been reached.
Available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or fully electric vehicle, the all-new Niro gives maximum choice to customers looking to make the transition to electric motoring. A simple three-tier specification structure – each model is available in ‘2’, ‘3’ or ‘4’ grades - ensures the Niro is equipped to suit a broad range of needs and preferences.
